  • Conceptualization: Capturing substances in ice
From exploring three experiments on the study of ice’s texture, the duplicate of ice’s forms and textures, and the capturing the substances in ice, I decided to choose the capturing the substances in ice as what I want to communicate about water. The idea I chose, however, is kind of adapting and including the idea of taking salt to erode ice too, since I used salt as the key element to take color into the ice.
From the experiment of the capturing of substances in ice, it changes my thought that anything cannot be put in an ice after ice is freezed. I found that such a simple thing as salt can erode ice and take color into it. Some amount of colors remain in ice and some flow out of the ice cube. This makes me compare the ice cube and substance inside with memory. Let’s say ice cube represent a brain. The substance inside represents the things or memory that are always in your head; you can recall whenever you want. The time of that moment stops in your memory like the substance that is freezed and remain unmoving in the ice. The color that runs out of the ice represents the memory or the thing that you forgot out.  And the thing mixes up so you cannot recall it anymore.

So, the visualization of my work will be either model or drawing. I favor doing model more than drawing, because it is more tangible and fun. So, if the process of making model goes well, I certainly go for it.
